The Opportunity
Our client is a Private Equity backed financial services firm. They are a market leader with a unique company culture and employee proposition which has enabled it to attract the best talent in Sydney. Headquartered in Sydney, the business has grown significantly both organically and through M&A.
This Financial Controller opportunity will suit an individual from the retail banking or financial services sector who have the ability to start immediately.
The position will lead 4 direct reports, assist with internal change management, financial and board reporting, balance sheet management, continual process improvement and ad hoc financial control tasks.
The Challenge
As part of the Executive Leadership Team, your responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Lead the Financial Control team of 4 and offshore team of 10
- Responsible for the daily output of the Finance team, including the AP and AR functions and the monthly tax preparation and trust accounting processes
- Deliver the month end general ledger close ensuring accuracy of the books and efficiency of the processes, along with a hands-on approach via journal approvals to meet strict deadlines
- Review key balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Responsible for Finance’s role in partnering with key internal stakeholder requiring approvals, guidance, and assistance
- Ensure risk incidents are logged and all Standard Operating Procedures are robust and current
- Ensure daily payments are authorised from the corporate bank accounts in Australia and New Zealand
- Actively participate in Finance and non-Finance led projects that make system enhancements to improve processes
The Expertise
Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:
- It is a given that you will be a proven finance leader with comparable experience within the financial services industry, ideally with a knowledge of lending or financing products.
- It is a given that you will have a demonstrated skill-set in financial control and team management
- It is a given that you will have extensive experience in establishing or enhancing ‘first-class’ systems, processes and procedures for relevant companies.
- A finance executive who has worked as part of a Private Equity portfolio company is desired though not essential.
- The interpersonal skills and experience to liaise closely with key executives including PE partners and board members.
